Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mother-in-law's birthday. I've known her for 15 years now. I can still remember my first impression of her - she is an excellent mother. I always felt comfortable around her. She has that ability to make you feel like you've known her your whole life. When you're the teenager with a slight crush on her son, it was nice to feel welcomed.

As I've come to know her more closely over the last 5 years, I've been given the opportunity to learn her heart. She is a woman of prayer, compassion and love. Mom is someone you know is praying for you every day simply because you feel her prayers wrapping around you. It is an honor to be her daughter. To have her Christ-like heart as an example to me and our girls.

She's also quite the cook. I am constantly getting requests to use her recipes for potato soup and enchiladas. They have made a lasting impression on N and now our family too.

Mom,

It is my honor and privilege to be part of your family, to have you as my mom. You are a woman of faith and love for your family. Thank you for welcoming me as one of your own. Thank you for raising a son who loves his family and provides for us.

We hope today you feel our love wrapping around you. You mean the world to us. We can't wait to spend time with you in December. You may be on the hook to make N some of your famous potato soup. I can't seem to make it exactly the same!

Happy birthday mom. I hope your day is filled with laughter, love and some Nintendo DS! We love you.
